10. Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, Japan
This temple is located in the central part of Japan, which is more popularly known as central Narita. This temple is dedicated to Fudō myōō, which translates to the “unmovable wisdom king” in Japanese. This main god in this temple is the Fire God. The beauty of this temple is known for and the best time to visit this temple is during the spring season, when the plants and trees are in full bloom. This is the entry point to the famous city of Tokyo and thus it attracts over 10 million visitors yearly.
9. Sultanahmet Camii, Istanbul
Often seen in the films, we know that this famous mosque is in Istanbul. The actual name of the mosques is Sultan Ahmed Mosque and it is known as the Blue Mosque throughout the world. The entire mosque is fitted with blue tiles and the construction of this mosque took more than 7 full years to complete.
8. Bodh Gaya, India
The name Bodh Gaya is coined from the ancient tree “Bodhi”. It is said that this is the place where Gautama Buddha, the Buddhist preacher attained his enlightment. It has been over 250 years since Buddha attained enlightment and the place is still visited by tens of millions of people every year. The modern location of this temple is in Bihar, India.
7. Tian Tan Buddha, China
Buddhist monasteries and places of religious importance have been a major hit among the international travellers as these places are known for their calmness and peace. This place is also known as the Big Buddha and the construction of this statue was completed in the year 1993. With a height of 112 feet, the statue weighs over 250 metric tons.
6. Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris
Our Lady of Paris is the literal translation for the French stating “Notre Dame Paris”. The famous boo by Victor Hugo “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” was the one that popularised this shrine to the world. This book was later adapted as a Disney movie. It is said that this shrine gets over 12 million visitors every year, mainly for its beautiful architecture and complicated designs.
5. Mount Kailash, Tibet
One of the famous centres for the Hindu’s is the Mount Kailash in Tibet. Though it is located in Tibet, the visitors to this place are mostly from India. This place is said to be the heavenly abode of the destroyer of evil, ignorance and illusion, Lord Shiva. Some of the Buddhist Monks even believe that the Mount Kailash is the home of Buddhist Demchok as well.
4. Tirupati, India
The Venkateshwara Swamy Temple in Tirupathi is considered to be one of the richest temples in the World with an annual income of about 10 Billion INR. The mountain range, known as the Tirumala, is the second oldest rocky mountain range in the World. With about 5000 people visiting this temple on an average every year, this is considered to be one of the most famous places in India for Pilgrimage.

With a population of about 800 people in the year 1929, the city of Vatican was let out as an Independent city. But back then and even now, it attracts more than 4 million people every year. The Catholic Church’s administration is located in the Vatican City and the entire territory is surrounded by lush green atmosphere with people walking all along the city. This city was declared as the first carbon- neutral city in the world. This is one of the monuments with the UNESCO Certification for the World Heritage site. The architects for the basilica include renowned architects such as Michelangelo, Giacmo della Porta, Maderno and Bernini.

Mecca is the religious grandeur of every Muslim. Every Muslim wishes to make at least one visit to the holy place of Mecca. So is the religious view, in countries like India, the government sponsors Muslims to visit the Holy place of Mecca at bare minimum expenses to fulfil the religious views of Muslims.
